Nervous about your first time on the rapids? Here’s everything you need to know before you get wet.
Go with a guide
Licensed outfitters provide the raft, paddles, helmets and life jackets, plus a safety briefing before you launch. Beginners should choose a Class II–III trip.
What to wear
- Quick-dry clothing or a swimsuit (no cotton)
- Secure water shoes or old sneakers
- Sunscreen and a strap for your sunglasses
- A change of dry clothes for afterwards
The best part
Expect to laugh, scream and get completely soaked. Most people are planning their next trip before they’re back on shore.
